The Farmers' Market

Before we moved to Bloomington, we heard quite a bit about the place from friends and acquaintances--often their second-hand information--but almost everything we heard was very positive. One event about which people kept waxing lyrical was the Farmers' Market held every Saturday downtown outside City Hall. True to its name, the Farmer's Market is just that, a place where farmers and other food vendors--a diverse bunch, from Menonites to Taiwanese!--set up shop and sell all manner of vegetables and other produce, much of it labeled with the very trendy "organic" designation. But it's a bit more than farm products. There's usually a rootsy rock band, a few art dealers, and one of our favorites, an older man who plays folk songs on acoustic guitar while his wife bounces traditional wooden dolls on a piece of wood--great fun for the kids.

So let's have a look at this Farmers' Market...

Just as we get so caught up watching this act that we forget to shop, so too have I shown so many photos of their performance that I've failed to show much of the market. Well, here at least is some of the produce on sale...
